iTunes offers a lot of appealing things that can tempt the Android user to get an iPhone 5 over Jelly Bean smartphones, which do not come with iTunes. Is it possible for Android users to enjoy iTunes contents (Video, Movie, Music) on an Android smartphone like Google Nexus 4? We dig into it in this article to give you an idea of enjoying iTunes music and videos on Google Nexus 4 (and other Android phones).

Playing iTunes Music and Podcast on Nexus 4
Music and podcasts downloaded from iTunes are compatible with Android phones in most cases. Music purchased from iTunes is in the AAC format and Podcasts MP3, which are compatible with Nexus 4. But there are exceptions- songs bought from iTunes prior to the April 2009 are protected by DRM and thus can not be played on Android device.
Playing iTunes Videos and Movies on Android
All movies and TV shows rented or purchased from iTunes have DRM restrictions. Because Android doesn’t support Apple’s iTunes DRM, video from iTunes won’t work on Nexus 4. Other kinds of video stored in an iTunes library, such as that shot on an iPhone 4, are compatible with Nexus 4 phone.
There are DRM removal tools for you to strip out the iTunes DRM, although the legality of some uses here is questionable. Below shows you how to convert an iTunes video file to Android-compatible file.
Tool used for DRM removal:
ChewTune for Windows | ChewTune for Mac
Tip: Windows users can get free Profile Patch for Nexus 4 from here.
Before conversion you need to change iTunes options:
1. Start up iTunes, and switch to “Movies” under LIBRARY.
2. Select the movies you’d like to convert, right click and select “Get Info”.

Now you’re ready to remove DRM from iTunes movies with Pavtube ChewTune

2. Click “Format” and select an output format for playing on Google Nexus 4. Android smartphones support DivX, MPEG-4, H.263, and H.264 codec. For best effect, you’re suggested to set “Android” >> “Google Nexus 4 H.264 Video (*.mp4)” format, which is included in the profile patch for Windows users. If you’re running Mac, pick up “Google Nexus 7 H.264 Video (*.mp4)” for conversion.

3. Click “Convert” to DRM-free iTunes movies. The conversion proceeds as iTunes plays the movies. So DO NOT turn off iTunes until the conversion is completed.
4. When conversion completes, click “Open” to locate the DRM-free movies. Now you’re ready to transfer free iTunes movies to Google Nexus 4 smartphone.
Tip:Pavtube ChewTune also lets you extract MP3, AAC, WMA, M4R (iPhone Ringtone format) audio from iTunes Store videos. Just select the audio format from “Common Audio” in step 2.
Reading iBooks on Nexus 4
Just like the Mac version of a program won’t run on Windows, iBooks are a no-go on Android.
Syncing and Streaming iTunes contents to Nexus 4
While iTunes won’t sync media and other files to Android devices by default, with a little work and a third-party application, the two can talk to each other. Two apps that can sync iTunes and Android are AirSync from doubleTwist and TuneSync from High Wind Software.
