I have some .vob files copied from DVDs. I’m wondering if I can put these DVD videos to my Kindle Fire HD 7 for watching. Does the Kindle Fire HD play .vob format?
Both the the 7-inch Kindle Fire HD’s beautiful 1,280×800-pixel screen and the 8.9-inch model’s 1,920 x 1200-pixel screen are great for watching movies. However, currently the Kindle Fire HD only supports H.264, MPEG4, H.263, and VP8 video codecs, and .vob isn’t in one the the supported formats. If you want to play DVD .vob videos on Kindle Fire HD, the best solution is to convert VOB to Kindle Fire HD playable videos like the H.264 encoded MP4 first. Here’s a simple tutorial, guaranteed to get .vob movies work perfectly on Kindle Fire HD. Just follow it.
Free Download the App – Pavtube Video Converter, which can be used an all-in-one video conversion app for for Kindle Fire HD. Besides VOB, it can also help you encode/re-encode almost all 1080p/720p HD videos including MKV, AVI, MPG, MOV, TiVo, MTS etc. for Kindle Fire HD. Meanwhile the quality of the converted videos is as decent as possible as original. The equivalent Mac version is the Kindle Fire HD Video Converter Mac, which can convert .vob to Kindle Fire HD on Mac OS X (Include Lion and Mountain Lion). Below is how.
Converting VOB to MP4 for smoothly playing on Kindle Fire HD (7/8.9)
Step 1: Install and run the VOB Video Converter to your PC, Click “Add Video” or “Add from folder” to import your source materials in .vob format. Batch conversion is supported so that you can add multiple files.
Step 2: Choose the output format. Click “Format” bar, you can get optimized videos for Kindle Fire HD under Android > Amazon Kindle Fire HD H.264(*.mp4). The output videos could fit on your device perfectly.
Tips: If you like, you can click “Settings” to change the video encoder, resolution, frame rate, etc. as you wish. According to my experience, the file size and video quality is based more on bitrate than resolution which means bitrate higher results in big file size, and lower visible quality loss, and vice versa. For watching videos on Kindle Fire HD, 720p with 2000kbps is just all right.
Step 3: After above settings, you can start the DVD .VOB to Kindle Fire HD MP4 conversion. Once the process completes, locate the files and transfer and copy the converted MP4 videos to your Amazon tablets. As you see, now you can effortlessly watch DVD .vob videos on Kindle Fire HD 7/8.9.
