With Surface for Windows RT going on sale in just 10 days (Friday, October 26), Microsoft’s RT-based Surface tablet pricing has been outed by the software giant. After the Surface product page prematurely went live on Microsoft’s site a few hours ago, the company just officially announced that the 10.6-inch, ARM-powered slate will go up for pre-order at 9AM PT today, starting at $499 for the 32GB version. The 64GB model will cost $599. Pre-orders are now open at Microsoft’s official store.
Its worth noting the Surface’s trademark fancy keyboard covers aren’t included in the purchase price — the Touch Cover carries a $120 premium, and the Type Cover rings up at $130. There is a bundle, however, that packages the 64-gig model and a Touch Cover for $700.
The RT version comes with a 10.6-inch screen and a 1,280 x 720 resolution. The device is expected to be Wi-Fi-only, and its Touch Cover add-on works as a screen protector, stand, and keyboard. Surface for Windows 8 Pro is expected to launch after the Windows RT version, and will come with a “full HD” 1080p screen resolution. That device will likely be more expensive than the Windows RT model. Below is the specifications about the Microsoft Surface for Windows RT.
